# Nguyên nhân gây ra lũ quét

Nguyên nhân xảy ra lũ quét là sự liên quan giữa cường độ mưa, khí hậu, đặc điểm địa hình, các hoạt động của con người và các điều kiện tiêu thoát lũ của lưu vực. Cụ thể như sau:

* Mưa với cường độ lớn: đây là yếu tố quyết định gây ra lũ quét diện rộng. Mưa tập trung nhiều giờ với cường độ rất lớn trên điều kiện diện tích hẹp sẽ tạo thành dòng xói mòn từ khu vực địa hình cao tới địa hình thấp. Lũ đi tới đâu có thể càn quét, sạt lở đất tới đó.

* Địa hình: sườn dốc núi, địa hình bị chia cắt, lớp phủ thực vật thưa bị phá hủy bừa bãi, độ ổn định của lớp đất mặt lưu vực kém,..sẽ tạo điều kiện hình thành dòng chảy dồn vào dòng suối, làm cho lượng nước tích tụ ngày càng nhanh, nước dâng cao đổ từ thượng nguồn xuống hạ nguồn.
* Tác động của con người: những hành động chặt phá rừng của con người gây ra nhiều suy thoái môi trường, phá vỡ cấu trúc đất. Khi cấu trúc đất bị phá vỡ, khả năng thấm nước của đất suy giảm theo, dễ bị xói mòn, rửa trôi. Mặt khác, khi nhiệt độ mặt đất tăng cao dễ tạo hiện tượng sa mạc hóa, gây nên lũ quét, bùn đá. Cùng cường độ mưa, lượng mưa nhưng nếu rừng được bảo vệ tốt thì có thể không gây ra các hiện tượng lũ quét kinh hoàng.
