Mặc dù đem lại nhiều tác động xấu tới đời sống, phá hủy môi trường sống của nhiều loài thực vật, sinh vật nhưng mưa axit cùng đem lại lợi ích nhất định. Chẳng hạn như hiện tượng mưa axit sẽ ngăn chặn được sự nóng lên của trái đất.
Mưa axit góp phần làm giảm hiệu ứng nhà kính
Vì khi mưa axit rơi xuống đầm lầy, dưới tác động của chất gây mưa axit như khí sunphua sẽ khiến cho các vi khuẩn bị cạn kiệt nguồn thức ăn, không thể sinh khí metan. Trong đó, khí metan là nguyên nhân chính làm cho trái đất nóng lên và gây hiệu ứng nhà kính.
